Patuxent Council #2203
Since 1920
Serving St. Mary of the Mills
and our Community

Knights of Columbus Patuxent Council No. 2203 supports the Catholic Church and the Laurel, MD. community.

With charity, we save lives, and we change lives! Ask us how, today!

As I write this, we’ve just held our Tootsie Roll Drive – it was a great success despite the rainy & windy weather all day today! Many thanks to brother Knight & council Advocate Ted Gambogi for organizing the drive and staffing every Mass that wasn’t covered by other brother Knights, as well as some that were! Thanks too to Ted’s son Nick who helped cover several Masses with his dad and assisted in a number of other aspects of the Drive. This weekend was also our first formal recruiting drive for this Fraternal Year, but the rain severely dampened (pun intended ) our efforts! Recruiting director PGK Jimmy Williams did manage to stage some materials in the Breen Room and on the breezeway between the church and the rectory, enabling him to respond to individuals expressing interest by taking them to a dry place to give them Form 100s & answer questions. I’m aware of at least three prospects we’ve gained from this weekend! We have holiday SHARE collections coming up in November & December – please volunteer to help with these collections at the Mass of your choice. Also coming up is the parish Bazaar, for which we will be working the kitchen. We need lots of help for this event that is the biggest fundraiser the parish does each year, and which provides a huge chunk of the revenue needed to meet the parish budget. Again, please volunteer to help! Unfortunately, our Financial Secretary PGK Gary Patishnock has had to step down for health concerns. Thankfully, the Good Lord provided a backfill – Bob Tenney – incredibly quickly. Bob stepped up as soon as he heard we had a need and is in the process of getting up to speed on the myriad duties involved in the FS position. We are truly blessed for such a smooth transition. I’ve been remiss in not having announced our Family of the Month selections so far in this fraternal year. I’m privileged to honor these families who exemplify that “Serving others is Faith in Action.” For the months of July, August, & September the Families of the Month are the Chris & Laura Doscher, brother Knight Lonnie & April Woodward, & Brian & Suzanna Pieslak families, respectively. Have a safe Halloween and blessed All Saints & All Souls Days. Finally, please plan on attending our council’s annual Memorial Mass on Tuesday evening, 19 NOV at 7:30 in the chapel at St. Vincent Pallotti High School.
